Flow Simulation in a 2D Bubble Column with the Euler-lagrange and Euler-euler Method

چکیده
Method: The presented EL method uses the open access software OpenFOAM to solve bubble dynamics with bubble interactions computed via Monte Carlo methods. The estimated bubble size distribution and the predicted hold-up are compared with experimental data and other simulative EE work with a reasonable consensus for both. Benchmarks with state of the art EE simulations shows that the EL approach shows good performance if the bubble number stays at a certain level, as the EL approach scales linearly with the number of bubbles simulated. Therefore, different computational meshes have been used to account for influence of the resolution quality.

Eulerian simulation of bubble columns reactors and effect of various parameters on the gas holdup
Gas holdup and bubble size are important parameters for simulation and designing in bubble column reactors. Because based on these parameters, the available gas-liquid interfacial area is defined for mass transfer. In this paper, the results of applying magnetic fields on the velocity field and volume fraction of gas holdup are reported. Hydrodynamics of the bubble column in the reactors is inv...

We report a parallel algorithm applicable to a Euler–Lagrange model embedding four-way coupling. The model describing the dispersed phase dynamics accounts for bubble–bubble collisions and is parallelized using a mirror domain technique while the pressure Poisson equation for the continuous phase is solved using a domain decomposition technique implemented in the PETSc library [S. متن کاملAn analytic study on the Euler-Lagrange equation arising in calculus of variations
The Euler-Lagrange equation plays an important role in the minimization problems of the calculus of variations. This paper employs the differential transformation method (DTM) for finding the solution of the Euler-Lagrange equation which arise from problems of calculus of variations. DTM provides an analytical solution in the form of an infinite power series with easily computable components. S...
متن کاملEuler-Lagrange equations and geometric mechanics on Lie groups with potential
Abstract. Let G be a Banach Lie group modeled on the Banach space, possibly infinite dimensional, E. In this paper first we introduce Euler-Lagrange equations on the Lie group G with potential and right invariant metric. Euler-Lagrange equations are natural extensions of the geodesic equations on manifolds and Lie groups. In the second part, we study the geometry of the mechanical system of a r...

A dynamic Euler-Euler model for gas-liquid flows subject to mass transfer and simultaneous chemical reaction is assembled. The bubble size distribution is computed from an equation governing the evolution of average bubble mass. Highperformance finite element tools for numerical solution of the problem at hand are discussed. Computational results for the chemisorption of CO2 into NaOH shed some...
